lady in the willow
this gorgeous little spirit of the forrest came to me through the imagery of a willow tree.
willow trees have always been a calming symbol of a safe haven to me. i remember running around the small town i grew up in and always convening under the large willow tree that sat in a vacant lot behind the town bank. adults passing by would always yell at us not to play with the tree and i always wondered where they lost their connection to nature- why i would be viewed as a nuisance to a tree that felt glad to offer me refuge.
i lost that connection to nature as a teenager and into my early adulthood, wrapped up in the whole image of what i’m “supposed” to be and do and look and say in order to deserve my place in life-i forgot to listen to the trees whispering to me that i’m already home🌬️💗
willow trees remind us that we are capable of withstanding loss and difficult emotions. that our weaknesses are also our greatest strengths because they connect us to our truths.
encouraging us to look through the illusions that have been stopping us from reaching our full potential, to have the courage to be reborn and sever ties with old identities.
when life feels too noisy and confusing, we can turn to nature and vent to the trees .
the lady of the willow will be waiting
